How much luggage can a VIP Sprinter carry?

Golf clubs, ski bags, a full production crew's kit or a family's holiday cases — how much luggage the executive Mercedes Sprinter really swallows, and when to book one.

When the group is large or the luggage is heavy, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the vehicle that makes the day work. It is the largest car in our chauffeur fleet, and its party trick is space — for people and, just as importantly, for their bags.

The short answer

In its executive VIP configuration the Sprinter seats up to 16 passengers, and even at full capacity there is a dedicated luggage area behind the rear seats. Configured for fewer passengers — say eight to twelve — the remaining seating rows convert into a generous hold that comfortably takes large suitcases, flight cases, golf travel bags and sports equipment.

What fits

  • A full set of large (28–32 inch) suitcases for a family or small group, plus cabin bags
  • Golf clubs — several full-size travel bags without folding a single seat in the lower-passenger layout
  • Ski and snowboard bags for a chalet party
  • Film, photography or event production kit — the reason crews book the Sprinter for shoot days
  • Trade-show stands, sample cases and marketing materials for a corporate event

Sprinter or V-Class?

If you have up to seven passengers and normal luggage, the Mercedes V-Class is usually the sweet spot — luxurious, discreet and easy in town. Step up to the Sprinter when you are moving a larger team, a lot of equipment, or both. Not sure which to book? Our guide to choosing the right Mercedes for your trip walks through it, or just tell us the party size and bag count and we will recommend the car.

Airport runs and group events

The Sprinter is a favourite for airport transfers where a group lands together with checked baggage — one vehicle, one chauffeur, everyone and everything in the same car. It is also the backbone of group event travel and corporate days. For a Heathrow or Gatwick pickup with a full luggage load, it is hard to beat.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How many suitcases can a VIP Sprinter carry?
In a lower-passenger layout the executive Sprinter comfortably carries a full set of large suitcases plus cabin bags for the group. At its maximum 16-passenger configuration there is still a dedicated luggage area behind the rear seats; if you are travelling with a lot of luggage we simply configure fewer seats to create more hold space.
Can a chauffeur Sprinter take golf clubs or ski bags?
Yes. The Sprinter is a popular choice precisely because it swallows golf travel bags, ski and snowboard bags and other sports equipment that will not fit in a saloon — without folding down the passenger seats in the lower-capacity layout.
Should I book a Sprinter or a V-Class?
Choose the Mercedes V-Class for up to seven passengers with normal luggage. Choose the Sprinter when you have a larger group, a heavy luggage or equipment load, or both. Tell us your party size and bag count and we will recommend the right vehicle.
Is the Sprinter suitable for an airport transfer?
Very much so. For a group landing together with checked baggage, the Sprinter keeps everyone and everything in one vehicle with one chauffeur — ideal for Heathrow, Gatwick and the other London airports.
